His two hands clapped,
Not too in time,
Not making full contact.
Not very rhythmic,
But they clapped.
~
They clapped for joy,
Because though he didn’t understand everything,
He knew he was in a place of love,
So he clapped.
~
They clapped because, sometimes you have to clap yourself,
You can’t always wait on other’s approval.
~
With squeals of joy,
He was pleased with himself.
He may not be able to clap to their beat,
But on his own he would clap, dance and feel free.
~
So, we clap you.
Everyday heroes, care-takers, and friends.
We clap you,
People with challenges, taking care of other people with challenges themselves.
~
And his heart warms when you smile,
Just as your heart does.
So, do your best,
Give him a clap,
And carry on.
