Boxer

~

You’re that boxer in the ring,

The one without all the crowd support,

The one whose name is not on all the banners,

The one they are not rooting for,

Still, you box.

~

But you’re that boxer in the ring,

Dancing without the fancy moves,

Getting tired, feeling hot,

No one to mop your brow,

No one to lift your head to water.

~

You’re that boxer in the ring,

As they’re calling time,

They can’t wait for you to be done,

Finished, over with, resigned.

~

Even though you feel like you’re all alone,

An invisible force is rubbing your back,

You hear words of encouragement whispered in your ear,

And you can see yourself one day, with the champion belt.

~

You’re that boxer in the ring, who refuses to sit down and die,

To just lose and be lost,

To just over and give up the fight.

~

You’re the boxer,

Helped by supernatural power.

Naturally weak, but spiritually strong,

They keep wondering where the endurance comes from.

~

You’re that boxer in the ring,

Without the visible support.

But all around you are chariots of fire,

Telling you to press on.

~

So, in your corner, you box.

You are helped,

Though seemingly weak,

You are strong.

~

You’re the boxer in the ring,

Firing punches, gaining points.

Triumphing, giving praises,

Glorifying God.

~

BOX!
